The Bryn Mawr Book Store is selling a newly published booklet chronicling the history of the nonprofit shop. “The First 50 Years: A History of the Bryn Mawr Book Store in Cambridge” by Jan Gardner is available by mail order for $6, which includes postage.
The nonprofit store is unique in that it is run by volunteers, all its books have been donated, and profits are donated to Bryn Mawr College outside Philadelphia for scholarships. Over the years it has contributed more than $2 million.
The shop was once one of 10 used book shops in the Northeast founded by Bryn Mawr graduates. Today only the Cambridge store and The Lantern in Washington, D.C. remain.
To purchase the 22-page booklet, stop by the store and buy it for $4 or send a check for $6 made out to the Bryn Mawr Book Store to Bryn Mawr Book Store, 373 Huron Ave., Cambridge, MA 02138 and ask that a booklet be mailed to you. Please include your telephone number on your check.
